Custom Embroidery Patches for Texas Businesses
Texas orders skew industrial and traditional in equal measure. The same month brings flame-resistant coverall patches for a Permian Basin contractor and chenille letters for a high school in the Hill Country. Here's what tends to come up.
How we work: we produce and ship patches to customers throughout Texas. We don't run a walk-in shop in the state — files are delivered digitally and finished patches ship to you. What follows reflects what Texas customers actually order.
Oilfield and industrial — and the FR problem
This is the order that needs the most care, and the one most often got wrong.
Flame-resistant workwear is certified as a system. Stitching a standard polyester patch onto an FR coverall introduces a material that will melt, and can invalidate the garment's certification — a genuine safety issue, not a paperwork one.
If patches are going onto FR clothing you need FR-rated patch backing and FR thread (typically Nomex), and you should confirm with the garment manufacturer that adding them is permitted. Some FR garments come with designated patch areas; some don't allow aftermarket decoration at all.
Tell us up front if the garment is FR. We'd rather quote the correct materials than supply something that shouldn't go near a wellhead.
Western, rodeo and ranch
Leather patches dominate here — laser-engraved ovals on rope caps for feed stores, ranches and rodeo sponsors. The look is well established and it works because the designs suit it: brands, marks and wordmarks read perfectly in a single engraved tone.
Worth knowing: engraving is one colour. If your ranch brand is a simple mark, leather is ideal. If your logo depends on colour, it'll flatten. Chenille also shows up for rodeo and western jackets where a bigger, plusher look is wanted.
School spirit
Texas high school culture drives serious volume — varsity letters, band and drill team patches, booster club merchandise. Almost all of it is chenille for the letters themselves with embroidered years and outlines on top.
The recurring problem is consistency across years. A letter ordered for this year's seniors should match the one a sophomore earns in two years' time. Get the thread numbers recorded on the first order and reference them every time.
Breweries, BBQ and hospitality
Growing steadily. Caps and aprons with embroidered or leather patches, usually smaller runs with high expectations on brand colour accuracy. Restaurant and brewery uniforms get laundered hot and often, so sew-on backing is the right call — iron-on will lift within a season.
Heat and sun
Texas conditions matter more than people assume for outdoor crews.
Specify polyester thread. It holds colour under UV far better than rayon, which fades noticeably on anything worn outdoors daily. On a Permian or Gulf Coast crew, this is the difference between logos that still look right at twelve months and ones that don't.
Avoid PVC on dark garments in direct sun where you can. Rubber patches on a black surface get genuinely hot; embroidery or woven is more comfortable for anything worn all day outdoors.
Timing
Digitizing comes back by email in 12–24 hours wherever you are. Physical patch production runs roughly one to two weeks depending on quantity and type, then ships. Plan two to three weeks end to end for a first order; reorders skip digitizing entirely.
If you're working to a season opener, a rodeo date or a shutdown schedule, say so when you enquire. Rush options exist but need arranging up front.
Multi-site consistency
Contractors running crews across Houston, Midland and DFW hit the same issue: patches ordered separately drift in colour. We keep your file and thread references, so an order placed by one yard next year matches the one placed by another this year. Ask for those numbers and keep them on your side too.
